Our approach is engaging and question based, allowing students to ask questions based on experiences in the industry or scenarios where they weren’t certain of the answer. Our instructors are certified and experienced, a total of 64 plus years of knowledge to draw from. Using real life scenarios and stories, we can bring the state required material to life demonstrating the real world application of the subject matter.

 

Instructors

Robert Guida is Principal and Instructor of Greenwood Real Estate School and the Principal in the Attorney at the Law offices of Joseph A. Torra. Robert is admitted to the Massachusetts bar and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.He received a J.D. degree in 1994 from Massachusetts School of Law, and a B.A. degree in 1989 from Merrimack College.He is also a certified instructor for Continuing Education classes.

Prior to forming Greenwood Real Estate School, Robert founded Guida Law Associates, P.C., Robert was a founding partner of Guida, Spino & Associates, LLP and Guida & Perry, P.C..Robert was also the principal of Robert H. Guida Law Offices, P.C. in Peabody and a partner in Cohen, Sherwood, Muller & Guida, P.C. in Beverly and Foxborough, concentrating his practice in the areas of Real Estate Law, Conveyancing, Bank closings, Buyer and Seller Representations, Condo Conversions and Landlord/Tenant Law, as well asBusiness Law.Prior to the practice of law, Robert owned a real estate title examination company and was a real estate title examiner for over ten years.

Robert is a two year former Affiliate Chairperson for the Affiliate Committee at the Eastern Middlesex Association of Realtors (EMAR), a teacher for the Eastern Middlesex Realtors Association continuing education program, and a frequent presenter for continuing education classes for real estate schools in the Greater Boston area as well as for Greenwood.

In 2014, Robert began Greenwood Real Estate School in response to the demand for more classes locally and tailored to the unique needs of specific offices and their agents.He formed a Recruit and Retain program for Broker/Owners who wanted to supplement the benefits of working for their office.This successful program has helped Broker/Owners bring in new agents while offering existing agents a convenient and enjoyable way of receiving their required continuing education hours.

Robert is very involved in his community through coaching hockey and lacrosse as well as directing the youth Intramural lacrosse program.He also serves on local boards that require his real estate expertise such as the Parking Garage Planning Committee.He resides in Wakefield wife his wife Colleen and their four boys.

Robert has over 20 years of conveyancing law experience, and has worked in the real estate field since 1987.

Scott Gordon

Scott Gordon is a licensed real estate instructor & Broker with over 25 years experience in the real estate industry.

From 1995-2000, he also served as a Property Specialist & Client Services Manager for Relocation Resources International. In these roles, he successfully administered a fully outsourced relocation program for corporate clients and was responsible for the acquisition & disposition of over $3 Billion dollars of corporate owned inventory. Some if his clients consisted of: Mercedes Benz, Capital One, Ocean Spray Cranberries, Johnson & Johnson & Biogen.

Since 2008, Scott has been teaching real estate classes to Salespersons and Brokers as well as pre-licensees. During this time, over 2,500 students have completed his Pre-licensing or continuing education classes. Many have gone on to become successful Realtors.

Scott holds various professional designations. The “GRI” (Graduate of Realtor Institute), “CRP” (Certified Relocation Professional), “CBR” (Certified Buyer Representative), “LMC” (Loss Mitigation Consultant), “SRES” (Seniors Real Estate Specialist) and “AHWD” (At Home With Diversity).

Scott lives and breathes real estate everyday. If he’s not in the classroom teaching others the knowledge they need to pass the licensing exams, he’s out in the field selling real estate. His teachings extend well beyond the classroom and are not typical of real estate training courses; as Scott shows students how to survive in the field. He doesn’t hold back, he shares real life experiences, secrets of the trade and makes learning – fun.

When Scott was 18, he achieved his 1st. degree black belt in American Freestyle Karate. Today, he shares his knowledge through a unique program he developed. The Realtor Safety program not only teaches agents how to stay safe on the job but also involves them in learning hands on self-defense techniques. He has taught this program to fellow Realtors throughout the state of Massachusetts, for over a decade.

Scott is the author of: “SALE PENDING, A Sixteen Step Guide to Buying Real Estate.” His book has been featured on various radio shows and is widely used by his peers, even those associated with other companies. A true testament of the respect Scott has earned from his peers.

When not working, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife & two kids, traveling, sailing, dining out and competitive Skeet shooting at the club.

Tom Heany - instructor, trainer and coach

Tom Heany

Tom Heany has been recognized as a trailblazing agent, leader, instructor, trainer and coach. An experienced business coach, Tom has helped 100’s of agents to grow their personal and team businesses. During his 35-year real estate career, Tom has served as Principle Broker of four separate companies in three different States and served as Chief Executive Officer twice.  As an agent, Tom closed more than 500 residential transactions and was perennially in the top ten percent of agents in his local Board of Realtors.

He has recruited over 350 agents to the offices with which he was associated. Training and recognition programs he initiated lead to his offices’ maintaining an extremely high retention rate. His analysis and understanding of financials accelerated company profit and opportunities to limit, or eliminate, under-performing expenses. He has used the same financial acumen to coach agents to better understand their returns-on-investment and helped them to increase their own net operating income.

Tom served as a faculty member at a local community college and taught courses in pre-licensing and continuing education. Teaching and training have been a continued focus. He has written and presented classes to hundreds of agents at all levels of their careers.  His courses on team building and team operations have won him raving fans across several States who credit their team’s successes to his instruction. He is currently completing a book entitled “How Do I Get from Me to We” explaining how to successfully create and run a real estate sales team. His insightful comments and down-to-earth explanations have helped his coaching clients to exceed their personal production goals, operate more efficiently and increase the net income that they bring home to their families.

As the Director of Agent Development for an 800-agent independent company, Tom ran an extensive training program, and offered one-on-one coaching to individual agents and those leading sales teams. He wrote several State-approved courses and wrote and presented a comprehensive 12-stage webinar course on building your real estate business that became mandatory for all new agents joining the company.

A lover of coastal living, Tom and his wife live in homes in Portsmouth, NH and Naples, FL. He has three children and two grandchildren.

Phil Burns

Phil Burns is a real estate salesperson with 24 years experience in the industry in Massachusetts. After previously having held a salesperson’s license in New Hampshire, he reinstated and has been licensed to practice “north of the border” since 2017. After being certified as an instructor in Massachusetts in 2005 he has enjoyed helping many prospective licensees prepare for the required exam. The goal along the way is to instill the respect and enthusiasm for the business that he’s had himself since first being licensed in Massachusetts in the fall of 1997.

Prior to entering the Real Estate business, Phil built a business to business service in the Commercial Television and Corporate Video field that catered to everyone from small companies to the Fortune 100 and national political campaigns.

When not teaching, or helping people turn their real estate goals into reality, you can find Phil reading fiction and American history including biographies, enjoying time outdoors and spending time with family and friends.
