How to Get Leads as a New Real Estate Agent

Real estate agent looks online.

Part of maintaining a successful real estate career involves making sure that your client cycle is continuous. Although some situations may lend to multiple dealings, in order to keep continuity, it is important as an agent to constantly be getting new client leads. This can be one of the more difficult parts of the real estate profession, however, with a little practice and some tips and tricks, it is possible to establish a reliable network of new potential clients.

Advertise on Social Media

Social media is a great asset for networking and growing your client base. Due to the personalized nature of the platforms, you are able to represent your brand in the way you want. Having a good social media presence is important, but even more so, utilizing the ad features which allow you to spend as much or as little as you want, is an easy and approachable way to spread your reach as an agent. Additionally, the ad features allow you to customize the location and demographics of your audience, ensuring that the money you spend on advertisement will reach a targeted group that will be much more likely to turn into real clients.

Join Facebook Groups

One of the best ways to continue reaching new audiences within a certain category of people, i.e. those looking to buy or sell homes, is to join specific facebook groups. In these groups, people will often post what they are looking for in an agent, or when and where they are trying to buy or sell. These groups often feel more personal than the traditional streams of social media, and may give you an edge in your search.

It also is a good strategy to advertise yourself in these groups, simply making a friendly post that details who you are, what kind of business you handle, and where you are located. This will allow all in the group, even those who don’t necessarily engage or post, to see your post and leave open the option of reaching out.

Monitor New Marriages or Engagements

Oftentimes the next step in a couple’s relationship, after marriage or engagement, is to buy a house. This can be a great opportunity for new clients, especially due to the fact that many young couples have other young couple friends who will be at similar stages in their lives. To stay up to date on new marriage or engagement announcements, check the newspapers. Oftentimes, newly engaged or married couples will receive a feature in the back section of the paper.

Simply sending a business card or advertisement to specific couples may be worth the effort should they decide to pursue their home buying journey with you.

Send Postcards

Postcards can be a great way to advertise yourself if you work in a specific localized area. Very inexpensive to print and mail out, postcards can be more effective than billboard or magazine advertisements, as they often sit on people’s tables for several days, instead of a brief passing they are likely to forget.

Whichever way you choose to advertise, know that good work does not go unrewarded and your best networking tool will be your consistency and good reputation as a real estate agent.
